RILAKKUMA

リラックマ (Rilakkuma), is a combination of the Japanese pronunciation for relax and the Japanese word for bear – essentially meaning ‘bear in relaxed mood’. Rilakkuma first appeared in 2003 in the Japanese comic series Rilakkuma Seikatsu, created by San-X, and is now a popular Netflix series with an 8.2 IMD rating and 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes! The story follows Rilakkuma, who visits a young women named Kaoru one day and has stayed with her ever since, sleeping mostly and providing life advice occasionally. Other characters Korilakkuma, Kiiroitori, and Chairoikoguma soon followed and are loved by many people around the world. Each Rilakkuma character has a unique personality and background, making them relatable and endearing for fans.
